Price : $15.00

The “Caroliene” range of wines recognises the first of a number of remarkable women in the Steinborner Family. Caroliene (nee Prüfer) accompanied Wilhelm Steinborner to Gomersal, from Milostowo, Posen, in September 1865.

The Steinborner 2007 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is tremendous partnership of two classic varieties. Sourced from premium Semillon from our Vine Vale vineyards and Sauvignon Blanc from the Adelaide Hills, it displays fresh-cut citrus fruits & chunks of grapefruit, intermingled with a delicate layer of tropical aromas, which carry through the palate to a subtly herbaceous and fresh crisp finish.

Colour:
Pale Straw
Aroma: Fresh-cut citrus, chunks of grapefruit, passion fruit, honeydew melon
Taste: Mineral lemon, lime, grapefruit, passion fruit, herbaceous
Food: Try it chilled with oysters, grilled fish, squid, or chicken dishes, and a fresh Greek salad.
Cellaring: Enjoy now or cellar for 2-4 years

Reviews & Awards

James Halliday Wine Companion 2009 Maximum 5 glass rating

“The Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc component plays a significant role, though the Semillon is very crisp too; the finish is delicious, with the lime/lemon acidity a major surprise. Top Value.” 94 points

Steinborner ‘Caroliene’ Semillon / Sauvignon Blanc - Ripe, lemon balm and honey-imbued Barossa Semillon is given the kiss of life by some zesty Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc and this results in a perky white which seems innocent on the nose but packs a more solid punch on the palate. With enough weight to handle main course Asian-fusion cuisine this is a very useful white wine, as this is what we're all eating these days. The finish is refreshing and it cleanses any chilli heat or even curried notes away in a trice. I reckon that this wine will age well, too, as the Semillon has energy and body and the Sauvignon's acidity is built to last.

“…The Steinborner Semillon-Sauvignon Blanc was fresh, crisp and crunchy, looking for an ice bucket in the sun, and a Greek salad on the side.” 93 points
